About Us

Well, there really isn't much to say...Neale Crowe is a local estate agent who also runs the Sunday Pub Quiz at the local pub (Spellbound Pub and Grill in Brackendowns) and Jimmy Crabb is a web designer/internet marketer who males a living flogging stuff over the internet and is a regular participant in the quiz.

It is purely for fun and there is practically no money involved - Neale gets the princely sum of 6 beers per quiz and the participants can win a few pints behind the bar and the occasional meal, so nobody is getting rich!

Anyway, we were chatting on night (at the pub - as usual..) and Neale told me how much work he puts into every quiz. We play 4 rounds of 15 questions per quiz, so that means he has to research at least 60 new questions per week which is nowhere as easy as it seems! They gotta be good questions. General enough that everybody has a shot at answering (or at least taking an educated guess) whilst not being so easy that everybody gets bored and never comes again and not too difficult so that nobody answers anything....it's a fine line.

There are quite a few quiz sites online where he can get questions from, but practically all the sites give away a few free questions and then sell some sort of subscription or CD, that you need to pay for to get access to the rest of the questions. Not really an option in our case because it's a non profit, fun, social affair - and we don't want to spend any money - so Neale spends hours researching and compiling the questions.

After a few more beers he tells me that he has several thousand past questions on his PC, but he can't ask repeat questions so they are just taking up space on his hard drive. At this point Jimmy has a brilliant beer inspired idea! Why don't I take all the past questions and create a FREE website. There are loads of people searching for free quiz questions and I'm sure we can make a few bucks selling advertising on the site. Blinder!   And I can add Google Ads and some affiliate links to make a few more bucks. Double Blinder!! With a bit of luck, we might even make enough to cover our monthly pub bills. Triple blinder!! Awesome!!

The next morning, without my happy beer cloud, I realized what I had let myself in for. Bollox! I only have to create a dynamic database driven website from scratch and type out over 10 000 questions and answers. Bollox! Bollox!  Even that won't be enough because people are looking for new questions! Bollox! Bollox! Bollox!

So anyway - I bit the bullet and got stuck in. I dunno how many questions there are on the site at the moment, but I am adding at least a couple of hundred per week. So please use and enjoy, but remember to check out a couple of our sponsors and other links because this will help pay for our bar tab and make it worthwhile to continue the upkeep of the site.

Cheers

Jim (web designer) and Neale (plonker)

We aren't charging anybody anything for the thousands of trivia questions that will be on this site once completed and hope to make a buck or two from selling advertising space.

The number of people searching for free questions, coupled with my own SEO and traffic generation skills means that I estimate around 20 000 visitors per month.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or buying some advertising space, just drop me an email at and make me an offer.
